5 Things to Do on the North Fork this Winter

It may be getting colder outside, but there’s still not plenty to do on the North Fork. Escape the Winter Blues with a Luxury Beach Getaway stay! Here are our top five favorite things to do on the North Fork during the off-season.

Visit the North Fork Wine Trail
While there isn’t a bad time to visit Long Island’s award-winning wine region, the off-season is arguably the most ideal time to visit. As the cold weather moves in, guests can indulge in cozy settings, exclusive seasonal tastings and a slate of live entertainment and activities. Whether you’re looking for a picturesque winter weekend getaway with the girls or you’re a true wine aficionado, you’ll want to check out some of the wonderous winter winery experiences on Long Island. Please check out our attractions page for a full list of wineries on the North Fork.

Relax at the East Wind Spa
Take a mini-vacation from your vacation at the East Wind Spa. East Wind offers an array of services including body treatments, massages, nail and hair treatments and waxing. Guests can enjoy East Wind’s new relaxation lounge, spacious couple’s suites, saunas, steam rooms and its state-of-the-art full-service hair and makeup salon. The perfect spot for couples, friends and bridal parties. Indulge in a relaxing package for your next stay-cation. We highly recommend making an appointment before visiting.

Family Fun at the Long Island Aquarium
The Long Island Aquarium is a fun destination for families, couples and friends alike. Some of the most popular attractions include one of the largest living coral reef displays in the Western Hemisphere, the Penguin Encounter, a 120,000-gallon shark tank and interactive shows featuring sea lions and African penguins. The entire aquarium is designed to recreate the Lost City of Atlantis and children just love all of the hidden spots and tunnels to crawl through. With fewer crowds and colder temperatures, many of the animals are more active. It’s always fun to watch the penguins playing in the ice and snow — and a good reminder that winter isn’t all bad! Be sure to check out what they have planned on their calendar ahead of time if you’re interested.

Spend an Evening at the Suffolk
Visit the Suffolk Performing Arts Center in Riverhead. The restored 1930s art-deco venue features big-name concerts, cabaret shows and an American dinner menu for all ages. You can enjoy live entertainment, music, plays, movies and catered affairs. From Country to Comedy, Classical to Contemporary, the Suffolk offers
a broad range of performing artists and has become part of the identity of Main Street. This month, enjoy performances by the Zac Brown Tribute Band, a night of Rhythm and Blues and a tribute to the music of Aerosmith. Be sure to check out what they have planned on their calendar ahead of time if you’re interested.

Zen out at the Giving Room
Calling all yogis. The Giving Room is the North Fork’s most popular center for yoga, pilates and all things wellness. Enjoy daily classes for all levels of practice with multiple styles of yoga. Giving Room teachers have experience in multiple disciplines including Iyungar, Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and more.
